Happy Thanksgiving to you. The Bible says: 1 Thess. 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.During this season, let us focus on the positives and not the negatives. The negatives and failures of the past could drain up our energy and mess up our spirit of thanksgiving. Negativity is toxic. It could cloud one's mind to the point that one is unable to sense and remember the positive side of life. A negative person is unhappy, miserable, depressed, defeated, bitter and distressed. Negativity destroys and robs people of God's blessings. Negativity can be manipulated by the devil to make you feel like life will always be bitter and not better. Be careful of negativity.
Thankfulness on other hand is a stress-burster. It also helps us to see the best of what life could offer. It makes us to remember the victories and the accomplishments that God has brought about in our lives. Let us count our blessings. Thankfulness, according to a Christian radio host, is a "trade mark of Christians." If we look at our lives we would see reasons why we must be thankful. As I meditate on Psalm 66, I noticed 3 things that we could do during this celebration:
1. We must Adore God for His Awesomeness.
(Psa 66:1 NIV) For the director of music. A song. A psalm. Shout with joy to God, all the earth!
(Psa 66:8-9 NIV) Praise our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard; {9} he has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping.
2. We Should Apprise the Workings of God
(Psa 66:5 NIV) Come and see what God has done, how awesome his works in man's behalf!
3. We should Pay Attention to the Activities of God in our lives.
(Psa 66:16 NIV) Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL.
