How to be Victorious by faith
1 John 5:4 (NIV) 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
Introduction:
Acts 1:8 (NKJV) 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
John 15:8 (NKJV) 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My
disciples.
1 John 2:15 (HCSB) 15 Do not love the world or the things that belong to the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.
1. By living as someone born of God.
1 John 5:4 (NIV) 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:4 (NKJV) 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world— our faith.
1 John 5:4 (The Message) 4–5 Every God-begotten person conquers the world’s ways. The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our faith.
John 3:3–5 (GW)
3 Jesus replied to Nicodemus, “I can guarantee this truth: No one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.”
4 Nicodemus asked him, “How can anyone be born when he’s an old man? He can’t go back inside his mother a second time to be born, can he?”
5 Jesus answered Nicodemus, “I can guarantee this truth: No one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.
2. By having an unshakable faith in God.
NKJV | Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.NKJV | Mk 11:22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
HCSB | Mk 5:34 “Daughter,” He said to her, “your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be free from your affliction.”
HCSB | Mt 9:22 But Jesus turned and saw her. “Have courage, daughter,” He said. “Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that moment.
NKJV | Mt 9:27 When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” 28 And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” 29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, “See that no one knows it.”
3. By praying in faith
Mark 11:24 (NKJV) 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
1 Samuel 1:9–12 (HCSB) 9 Hannah got up after they ate and drank at Shiloh. Eli the priest was sitting on a chair by the doorpost of the Lord’s tabernacle. 10 Deeply hurt, Hannah prayed to the Lord and wept with many tears. 11 Making a vow, she pleaded, “Lord of Hosts, if You will take notice of Your servant’s affliction, remember and not forget me, and give Your servant a son, I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and his hair will never be cut.” 12 While she continued praying in the Lord’s presence, Eli watched her lips.
Prayer Killers to avoid:
a. First, godlessness.
(Job 27:8-9 NIV) For what hope has the godless when he is cut off, when God takes away his life? {9} Does God listen to his cry when distress comes upon him?
b. Second, unconfessed sin.
(Psa 66:18 NIV) If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;
(Isa 1:15 NIV) When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you; even if you offer many prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood;
c. Third, unforgiving spirit.
(Mat 6:14-15 NIV) " For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. {15} But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
d. Fourth, doubting.
(James 1:5-8 NIV) If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. {6} But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. {7} That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; {8} he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.
e. Fifth, praying with a wrong motif.
(James 4:2-3 NIV) You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. {3} When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
4. By living according to the dictates of the word of God.
Rom 10:17 (NKJV) 17So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.5. By Acting according to our faith in God.
Matthew 17:20 (HCSB) 20 “Because of your little faith,” He told them. “For I assure you: If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.
Titus 1:2 (GW) 2 My message is based on the confidence of eternal life. God, who never lies, promised this eternal life before the world began.
Conclusion:
Romans 10:17 (NKJV) 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
