How to Have a Successful Quiet Time (Bible Study)

The Gospel of Mark: An Unending Story
How to Have a Successful Quiet Time (Bible Study)

In this passage of today, Our Lord Jesus Christ showed us the importance of spending a quality time with our heavenly father. The Scripture reads:

(Mark 1:35-39 NIV)  Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. {36} Simon and his companions went to look for him, {37} and when they found him, they exclaimed: "Everyone is looking for you!" {38} Jesus replied, "Let us go somewhere else--to the nearby villages--so I can preach there also. That is why I have come." {39} So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.

Does God Always Answer all Our Prayers?

“God has not always answered my prayers.  If he had, I would have married the wrong man –several times!” -Ruth Bell Graham

Today's Religion

"Religion today is not transforming people; rather it is being transformed by the people. It is not raising the moral level of society; it is descending to society's own level, and congratulating itself that it has scored a victory because society is smilingly accepting its surrender."-- A. W. Tozer (1897-1963)

Life is Full of Brokenness

"Our life is full of brokenness - broken relationships, broken promises, broken expectations. How can we live with that brokenness without becoming bitter and resentful except by returning again and again to God's faithful presence in our lives."-Henri Nouwen

God Can Extinguish That Fire!

Bible Study on The Gospel of Mark: An Unending Story

God Can Extinguish That Fire!

Scriptures: (Mark 1:29-31 NIV) As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. {30} Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her. {31} So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.

Be Mindful of Your Connections

Be Mindful of Your Connections
A person’s acquaintances and connections say a lot about the person. The company that you keep would influence you either positively or negatively. One Yoruba adage says that "a sheep that befriends a dog would eat an unsanitary food." As the old saying goes: "Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are." The bible says,  (Prov 13:20 NIV) He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm. In view of the aforementioned idea, reexamine your relationships to ascertain if you are in the right circle of friends. The Bible says: (1 Cor 15:33 NIV) Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character." A word is sufficient for the wise.

Give Me Neither Poverty Nor Riches!

Give Me Neither Poverty Nor Riches!
(Prov 30:8 NIV) Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.

I will rather live and die as a pauper, than become enriched in an ignominious way. It is better to be poor in a dignified way, than to gain fame and wealth through an unbecomingly process. The Bible says: (Prov 17:1 NIV) Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife. I am satisfied with whatever God has given me.

John Ojewole's Blog: The Purpose of a Church

John Ojewole's Blog: The Purpose of a Church

The Purpose of a Church

The primary purpose of a church is to rescue the perishing, turn sinners to saints, nurture the justified as they are sanctified and readied the sanctified for their eventual glorification. Anything short of that is maintenance, not ministry.

Is God Interested in the Size of Your Congregation?

God is not interested in the size of your parish or the elegance of your ecclesiastical edifice. He is far more interested in the number of your parishioners that are heaven-bound.
