A Mandate, A Mission, and A Message

What Are We Here For?

A Mandate, A Mission, & A Message

Memory Verse: Proverbs 11:30 (NKJV) The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise.

Text: Matthew 28:16–20

Introduction: 2 Corinthians 5:20

 The King's Business  by Elijah T. Cassel.

1.   I am a stranger here, within a foreign land;
My home is far away, upon a golden strand;
Ambassador to be of realms beyond the sea,
I’m here on business for my King.
o    Refrain:
This is the message that I bring,
A message angels fain would sing:
“Oh, be ye reconciled,”
Thus saith my Lord and King,
“Oh, be ye reconciled to God.”
2.   This is the King’s command: that all men, everywhere,
Repent and turn away from sin’s seductive snare;
That all who will obey, with Him shall reign for aye,
And that’s my business for my King.

1.   The Mandate:

Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8 ;John 20:21

 “you go ahead and do it, because I don’t give impossible commands.”—(The Duke of Wellington).

2.   The Mission:

John 20:21; Matthew 28:19; Acts 1:8; Matthew 10:5–6

“God Who Sends” by Dr. Francis Dubose

Illustration: “Go Ye”
“It was a Jew who brought the Gospel to Rome; a Roman who took it to France; a Frenchman who took it to Scandinavia; a Scotsman who evangelized Ireland; and an Irishman in turn made the missionary conquest of Scotland. No people have ever received the Gospel except at the hands of an alien”.—Dunkin

3.   The Message:

1 Peter 3:15; Acts 4:12; John 14:6; Acts 1:8;  John 3:16; Luke 10:2

“The Evangelistic Harvest is always urgent. The destiny of men and of nations is always being decided. Every generation is strategic. We are not responsible for the past generation, and we cannot bear full responsibility for the next one; but we do have our generation. God will hold us responsible as to how we fulfil our responsibilities to this age and take advantage of our opportunities.”—Evangelist Billy Graham

"How can a person say he believes in Hell and not take time in his week to go out and share his faith with others?"-- Walter Martin

“Don't wait. The time will never be just right.” --Napoleon Hill
