LIVING A WORTHY LIFE

LIVING A WORTHY LIFE

Memory Verse: Philippians 1:27 (NIV) Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel

TEXT: Philippians 1:21–30

1.     WE MUST BE CONSISTENT IN OUR NCONDUCTS AS FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST.
Philippians 1:27; Ephesians 4:1; Philippians 3:20; Acts 4:13

·        “conduct yourselves” (politeuesthe)

·        “walk” (peripateĊ)

·        “conduct yourselves as citizens” (politeuĊ).

Hymn: Let others see Jesus in You
1. While passing thro' this world of sin,
and others your life shall view,
Be
clean and pure without, within;
Let others see Jesus in you.

Refrain:
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you.
Keep telling the
story, be faithful and true;
Let others see Jesus in you.

2. Your life's a
book before their eyes,
They're reading it thro' and thro'
Say, does it point them to the skis,
Do others see Jesus in you?
Refrain:
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you.
Keep telling the
story, be faithful and true;
Let others see Jesus in you.

2.     WE MUST DEMONSTRATE THE CHARACTER OF THE REDEEMED
Philippians 1:27 ;

First, they are to stand firm (cf. Phil. 4:1) in one spirit. Galatians 5:1; Ephesians 6:14; Colossians 4:12; Titus 3:10

 “There is need of united action: union is strength; we must stand fast, keeping our ground as in battle, striving together. Disunion breaks the power of the great army; it dissipates Christian energy, and impedes grievously the progress of the gospel.”-- H. D. M. Spence-Jones

Second, they are to contend as one man (lit., “in one soul”) for the faith of the gospel. Philippians 4:3; Jude 3; Colossians 2:1–4

contending (synalthountes)

3.     WE ARE CALLED TO COURAGEOUS LIVING
Philippians 1:28; 2 Timothy 1:7; John 16:33; Isaiah 54:17

4.     WE ARE GRACED TO BE IDENTIFIED WITH CHRIST
Philippians 1:29–30; 1 Thessalonians 2:14–16; James 1:2

CONCLUSION: Acts 4:12; Romans 10:13
