What to do When in Distress--Outline only

Jonah: An Inescapable Mission
What to do When in Distress?

Memory Verse: Psalm 120:1 (NKJV) In my distress I cried to the Lord, And He heard me.

Text: Jonah 1:17-2:10
Introduction:
Jonah 1:17 (NKJV)  17 Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

“A believer cannot come to a place so abnormal that he cannot not pray to God there. The belly of the sea monster became Jonah’s prayer closet.”James E. Smith

First, we should Pray to God. Jonah 2:1-7
Jonah 2:1 (NKJV) Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish’s belly.

Cf. Lamentations 3:55–56; Psalm 120:1

Second, we should Praise God. Jonah 2:8-9
Jonah 2:8–9

Psalm 31:6 I have hated those who regard useless idols;  But I trust in the Lord.

Third, we should realize that our Deliverance will be propelled by God. Jonah 2:10
Jonah 2:10 (NKJV) 10 So the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

Conclusion:
Are you in bondage today?

Are you in distress?

Turn to God.
